About Our Bariatric Surgeon and Team

Dr. Krahn is fellowship trained in Bariatric surgery, and has been one of the top actively practicing Bariatric surgeons in Southern California for seven years. He received undergraduate and MD degrees from the University of California Davis, surgery training and certificate from Loma Linda University, and Bariatric fellowship from US Bariatric in Florida, under Robert T. Marema, MD FACS. He is a current member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, AMA, other surgical societies, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Krahn has performed over 2000 Bariatric surgeries, with complication rates that are lower than the national average, and weight loss that is above national averages. He is very committed to the specialty of Bariatric surgery and to his patients, and wants to help you achieve a tremendous improvement in your health and quality of life.

Brian S. Benson MPA, PA-C

Physicians Assistant Certified

Here at Western Bariatric, AMC it is Brian's responsibility to assist the physician in the surgical weight loss program within the hospital and clinic environment. Brian is Dr. Krahn's primary surgical assistant and he assists patients by providing clinical assessment and care. Brian has been first assistant in over 800 bariatric and general surgery procedures. Brian completed his Baccalaureate degree in Health Sciences from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina and completed his Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Brian is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and California Academy of Physician Assistants, an Associate Member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and other professional societies. Brian was Honorably Discharged after seven years of service as a member of the United States Army. He continues his whole-heartedly commitment to excellence, service, duty and honor to his care of the bariatric patient. .

Bariatric Coordinator

Here at Western Bariatric, AMC the Bariatric Coordinators assists patients in pre and post operative education, assist Dr. Krahn in the hospital and clinical setting, and assist patients by assuring their smooth transition from surgery. Patients are encouraged to attend patient support group meetings, hosted by the Bariatric Coordinators, which are geared to inform patients of physiological and cognitive changes that are common in the bariatric patient. Our Coordinators are highly experienced each with an impressive background in bariatrics. Kim and Terri are both committed to patient satisfaction and strive for strong and successful patient outcomes.
